The California Apartment Association and the United Way have formed a partnership to fight homelessness in the Inland Empire.
CAA’s Greater Inland Empire and the Inland Empire United Way announced their partnership Tuesday, Sept. 15.
The collaboration will build on successful efforts CAA has already achieved in aiding those in need of emergency shelter and improving the lives of Inland Empire residents.
“Inland Empire United Way has a proven framework that will mobilize our members and open more avenues for CAA to help the communities we serve,” said Jennifer Bedford, Board Chairwoman of CAA Greater Inland Empire.
Inland Empire United Way will not only give CAA’s members the ability to assist others in need of shelter monetarily, but also make them aware of opportunities to volunteer on projects and provide in-kind donations such as furniture, landscape services, roofing materials and pest control services to emergency housing facilities.
“We are very excited to have California Apartment Association Greater Inland Empire on board,” said Gregory Bradbard, president and CEO of Inland Empire United Way . “This partnership has tremendous potential to strengthen Inland Empire United Way’s efforts to improve the lives of individuals, children and families in our community.”
With more than 1,000 members, CAA Greater Inland Empire brings the local United Way its first extensive housing industry network that includes apartment owners, property management companies, affordable housing experts and businesses that support the rental housing industry.
Raising thousands of dollars annually from its events, CAA Greater Inland Empire has partnered with local nonprofit housing providers to pay for construction material, supplies and services for transitional housing projects.
CAA recently helped rebuild Genesis House, a 32-bed facility in Riverside that houses individuals and families who find themselves temporarily homeless.
