CAA defeats rent control in city of Sacramento

After facing aggressive opposition from the California Apartment Association, a draconian initiative to impose rent control and just-cause eviction policies in Sacramento has failed passage.

In Tuesday’s election, 61.8% of voters rejected the initiative, Measure C.

By defeating Measure C, CAA has protected Sacramento’s rental housing industry from San Francisco-style rent control and just-cause eviction protections.

Measure C was opposed by a broad coalition including Mayor Darrell Steinberg and every Sacramento city council member, as well as local residents, local business owners, various community groups, the construction industry, housing developers, local Realtors and small housing providers across the region.
