Several representatives from Sares-Regis Group, Alliance, Camden and National CORE sat with Waldron for more than an hour, sharing their concerns and discussing current issues at their rental properties.

“The meeting provided Assemblywoman Waldron with first-hand information about rental housing needed to help protect our industry in the state Capitol,” said Tim Johnson, executive director of CAA’s Inland Empire  Division, also known as CAA-AAGIE. “Every year, several bills designed to mandate and restrict the rental housing industry are introduced.”

Waldron, who represents Assembly District 75, has exhibited strong support of CAA’s efforts to protect the rental housing industry. Although the opportunity to vote against it did not transpire on the Assembly Floor, she opposed Sen. Mark Leno’s SB 1439, which took aim at the Ellis Act, a landmark 1985 law that bars local governments from making property owners stay in the apartment business.

Waldron was elected in 2012 and represents CAA members in the city of Temecula in Riverside County, and the cities of San Marcos and Escondido in San Diego County. She serves as vice chairwoman on the Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism, and Internet Media Committee, and is a member of the Select Committee on Small Business Financing and Development Opportunities.

Victories achieved by CAA’s government affairs programs result directly from relationships cultivated with elected officials such as Waldron.
