CAA names new executive director in Fresno

Greg Terzakis, a veteran of government affairs work in the Central Valley, has joined the California Apartment Association as its new executive director in Greater Fresno.

Terzakis, who began Monday, Feb. 1, came to CAA from Granville Homes, a local business where he served as public affairs manager. Prior to that position, he spent four years as a legislative aide to San Joaquin County Supervisor Carlos Villapudua.

Terzakis also spent seven years as partner at Reid and Associates, a political lobbying organization in Stockton. In the mid-1990s, he worked as a field representative for U.S. Rep. John T. Doolittle. Terzakis holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of San Francisco.

“Greg’s invaluable skills in developing political campaigns, lobbying local government and raising political dollars make him a great fit for CAA,” said Tom Bannon, chief executive officer of the statewide association.

“Greg has assumed responsibility for all CAA operations in the Greater Fresno region, but he will focus primarily on advocating for the rental housing industry in the halls of government.”

Terzakis replaces Stephanie Babb, who left CAA in November for a position in higher education.

He said he’s excited to work for an association that not only advocates for the rights of rental property owners to conduct business free of onerous regulations, but insists on members abiding by the highest ethical standards, as outlined in CAA’s Code of Ethics.

“In the weeks to come, I look forward to collaborating with members of the rental housing industry, public officials and other community leaders,” Terzakis said. “Together, we can maintain a healthy business environment for the rental housing industry while ensuring that renters have safe, clean and well-maintained places to call home.”
