Call to action: San Jose City Council to discuss stricter rent control (June 12)

The San Jose City Council on Tuesday, June 16, will discuss whether to move forward with amendments to the city’s rent control ordinance.

The discussion is set for about 3 p.m. at San Jose City Hall, Council Chambers, 200 E. Santa Clara St.

Among the proposed changes:

CAA Tri-County encourages local rental property owners to attend this meeting and speak against this proposal.

A “show of force” in the audience will send a powerful message to the mayor and council.  Bring associates, colleagues, business partners and affiliates to the meeting.

CAA Tri-County believes this proposal fails to address the issues of housing affordability that face Northern California.

Punitive rent controls won’t build more housing and they jeopardize the ability to maintain quality housing.  Rental owners need to take action NOW to protect the safety of their residents and their investment.
