The Governor signed SB 2733 (1990) requires the Department of Health Services to adopt regulations for the design, installation, inspection, maintenance, supervision, and training of personnel involved in the design, installation, and maintenance of all playgrounds either operated by public agencies or operated by any entity where the playground is open to the public. The initial law required playgrounds to be replaced or improved to meet the standards on or before January 1, 2000. Later amendments to the law extended deadlines for inspection and upgrade.
