Disability – If a resident with a disability asks to make alterations to the unit, do I have to allow it?

Fair housing laws specifically allow individuals with a disability to make reasonable modifications to rental units at their own expense, as long as they agree to restore the property to its original condition when the tenancy ends. If the modifications will not effect the next resident, however, the owner may not require restoration of the unit by the previous resident.
