Thanks to CAA, Riverside County supervisors aren’t about to create a new development impact fee to put new beds in the county jail.
The California Apartment Association’s Inland Empire Division, with assistance from the Riverside Building Industry Association and Inland Empire Commercial Real Estate Development Association, persuaded the Board of Supervisors to postpone a vote whether to approve a new “Criminal Justice Public Facilities” impact fee of $1,200 per unit. CAA-AAGIE and the Upland Fire Department will host a town hall meeting next month to discuss a pilot program allowing landlords to self-inspect their rental units.
Members of AAGIE are encouraged to attend the meeting and to share any questions and concerns. The gathering will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Carnegie Library, 450 N. Euclid Ave.
The 12-month pilot program, which began in November, allows building owners and managers to conduct fire safety inspections on their own. The City Council approved the trial inspection program in October.

It was all part of CAA-AAGIE’s inaugural Legislative Leadership Conference, held June 7 at the Double Tree Hotel in Ontario.

The 19th Annual AAGIE Summer Scramble Charity Tournament raised $5,000 for HomeAid Inland Empire, which has provided transitional housing since 1990 to families rebuilding their lives in San Bernardino and Riverside counties. The golf tournament was held on May 9 at The Retreat in Corona, and more than 140 golfers took part, supporting a good cause and enjoying a beautiful day on the course.
