California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) says it’s legal under California’s civil rights laws for property management firms and other businesses to require employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19, although not everyone in the legal community shares this view.

CAA gets Fair Housing Council to drop guarantor mandate

The California Apartment Association has persuaded the Fair Employment and Housing Council to drop a provision that would have required landlords to accept guarantors on behalf of tenants. The requirement was a provision in the latest round of proposed fair housing regulations.

Fair housing proposals could force landlords to accept guarantors on behalf of tenants

The California Apartment Association last week submitted comments to the Fair Employment and Housing Council, which is considering a new round of fair housing regulations. The Fair Employment and Housing Council is part of the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH). The council issues regulations to ensure that the state’s Fair Employment and Housing Act and other laws enforced by DFEH are interpreted and implemented fairly and protect the public to the full extent of the law.

Newly signed law expands sexual harassment-prevention training to small businesses
