Gov. Jerry Brown signed his final bills on Sunday night, his constitutional deadline to approve or veto legislation in 2018.
In the month leading up to that cut-off, Brown approved a number of bills supported by the California Apartment Association, including legislation to increase California’s housing supply, improve safety at apartment complexes and help tackle homelessness issues.

Gov. Jerry Brown on Wednesday signed a bill that will streamline the approval of certain affordable housing projects with units for the homeless.
The California Apartment Association supported the bill, AB 2162 by Assemblyman David Chiu, D-San Francisco, and coauthored by Assemblyman Tom Daly, D-Anaheim. The legislation will expedite the approval of affordable housing developments with a certain percentage of “supportive housing.”
