About 200 people received an economic and political forecast Wednesday from a premiere economist, several elected officials and representatives from the rental housing industry.
They all came together for the California Apartment Association’s Outlook 2016, held at the Oshman Family JCC in Palo Alto.
The event included a panel discussion with Rose Herrera, vice mayor of San Jose; Jeff Gee, a city councilman in Redwood City; and Mike Kasperzak, a city councilman in Mountain View.

The California Apartment Association will present a pair of economic forecasts in the next week – one in the Silicon Valley, the other in Southern California.
Both events take place Thursday, Jan. 29.
At the Southern California event, Greg Willett of MPF Research will speak at CAA Orange County’s Professional Property Managers’ Forum in In Newport Beach.

During a California Apartment Association event Thursday, a featured speaker predicted that growth in commercial construction will bring a corresponding need for new housing in the Silicon Valley.
Larry Souza of the Johnson Souza Group offered that forecast during Tri-County’s annual economic and legislative summit, which nearly 200 members attended.
The Silicon Valley Business Journal covered portions of Outlook 2013, including Souza’s comments.
