CAA North Coast has welcomed its new executive director, Mallori Spilker, who is establishing the North Coast government affairs and political action program in Northern Marin and Sonoma counties. As Election Day quickly approached, about 30 rental housing professionals gathered for the inaugural Pints for PAC event Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Creek Monkey Tap House in Martinez. The evening included beer tasting, food pairing and exceptional networking. Pints for PAC attracted a wide range of attendees, from industry partners to reps from large property management companies to an independent rental owner with three units. Political Action Committee events help raise critical funds to defeat proposals harmful to the rental housing industry. In a huge victory for the rental housing industry, lifelong San Bernardino resident Carey Davis on Tuesday won the race for mayor. Davis, who garnered 55 percent of the vote in the Feb. 4 election, will help protect the city from a “landlord tax” and proposed increases to inspection fees, said Timothy Johnson, executive director of the California Apartment Association’s Inland Empire Division, or CAA-AAGIE.
