  U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert McDonald this week thanked members of the California Apartment Association’s Greater Inland Empire Division for helping to end homelessness among veterans in San Bernardino County. In October, San Bernardino County asked CAA for help finding housing for the county’s remaining 200 homeless veterans. This prompted CAA and the Housing Authority of the County of San Bernardino to host a webinar on how CAA members could help. Adding affordable housing and improving existing housing in the San Bernardino area are key priorities for the California Apartment Association. With that in mind, CAA’s Greater Inland Empire Division has invested leadership power toward these dual goals – both at the county and city level. Twice this summer, the California Apartment Association’s Inland Empire Division helped low-income renters who’d fallen on particularly hard times, including both fire victims and families facing eviction. To recognize the efforts, San Bernardino County’s housing authority passed a resolution Tuesday thanking CAA-Apartment Association of the Greater Inland Empire. Two local elected leaders will discuss the economic outlook of the region during the California Apartment Association’s inaugural Legislative District Leadership Conference for the Greater Inland Empire. The two officials – one representing San Bernardino County and the other the city of Calimesa – will speak next month at a conference hosted by CAA-Apartment Association Greater Inland Empire, or CAA AAGIE.
