CAA educational sessions, rent control discussion head to Pacifica

Just a few days before the rent control discussion returns to Pacifica, the California Apartment Association and the city are partnering to better educate both rental housing providers and renters about their rights and responsibilities.

On Thursday, Jan. 21, CAA Tri-County will present a pair of educational sessions, Managing Rental Housing and a Renters Informational Forum, at Pacifica City Council Chambers.

The sessions are open and free for Pacifica rental owners, operators and residents living in rental housing. Attendees will learn about lease agreements, fair housing laws, and CAA’s Code of Ethics and Resident Bill of Rights.

The sessions were scheduled after CAA told to city leaders that better educating both rental owners and renters of their rights would encourage better communication between all parties.

Despite progress toward greater communication, rent control advocates are expected to continue their demand to enact rent control and other harmful regulations when the City Council meets Monday, Jan. 25.

CAA is calling on rental owners to keep letting the council know that rent control is a failed policy.
