Greater Fresno’s rental housing elite received accolades Saturday night during the 18th annual Mark of Distinction Awards Banquet.

The California Apartment Association event drew roughly 800 members to the Fresno Convention Center in downtown.

Serving as master of ceremonies during the elegant evening was local CAA board member and attorney Steven R. Hrdlicka.

Awards went to winners in 19 categories. All nominees participated in a phone call interview with a judge for each category.

Winners received a crystal vase that they can proudly display at their respective properties, as well as certificates of recognition from various elected officials.

Also taking the spotlight during the banquet was the Salvation Army, whose Capt. Dwayne Breazeale  accepted a $2,500 check from CAA Greater Fresno Board Chairman David Jackson. The Salvation Army will use the proceeds to help renters pay their PG&E utility bills and to provide one-time rent payments for clients experiencing a financial hardship.

Finally, the event included accolades for Stephanie Babb, CAA Greater Fresno’s departing executive director, and a check presentation to the Salvation Army.

During Babb’s 11-year tenure with the Association, she organized, attended and oversaw countless educational, political and social events for CAA.

Recognizing  Babb were the Association’s chief executive officer, Tom Bannon; the city of Fresno; city of Clovis; county of Fresno; the advisory board for CAA Greater Fresno; and numerous federal, state and local representatives in attendance. All wish Babb the best of luck in her new endeavour as director of communications and marketing for Clovis Community College.
