The California Apartment Association and city of San Jose are asking local property owners to identify available units for residents displaced by recent flooding in Silicon Valley.
“The California Apartment Association recognizes the urgent need for housing that the flood has placed on our already tight housing market,” said Anil Babbar, vice president at CAA. “It is because of this urgent need that we are placing a call to our membership to identify available rental units and provide that information to the city.”

CAA North Coast has partnered with Catholic Charities to collect warm clothes and blankets to help homeless individuals and families during what’s expected to be a cold and wet winter.
At our Dec. 5 holiday luncheon, we will be collecting new or gently used items of warm clothing to donate to Catholic Charities to use for their “Code Blue,” program which helps families survive during the colder months.

More than 200 rental housing industry executives teed off Monday, July 25, for a summer afternoon of golf, networking and fun during the 27th annual CAA Tri-County Charity Golf Tournament.
CAA is still tallying proceeds from the event, which will be donated to the Housing Industry Foundation, furthering its mission to help individuals and families remain in or return to stable housing. HIF also assists with special housing projects and renovations in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.
In its 27-year history, the golf tournament has raised close to $1 million for the foundation.

The California Apartment Association is a partner in the Housing Our Heroes program, which has helped more than 200 homeless veterans find rental housing since the program debuted in San Diego on March 1.
So far, 130 landlords are taking part in the program, which offers financial incentives.
“Really the bottom line is the ‘Housing Our Heroes’ campaign is making a difference in veterans’ lives, and entire families are making their way off the streets,” Mayor Kevin Faulconer said in this news release. “Our heroes don’t need to spend another night on the street.”

Members of the California Apartment Association have come together once again to help some of Los Angeles’ most vulnerable residents.
On Thursday, July 21, CAA Los Angeles held its second annual Summer Soirée, a rooftop networking event that raises money to benefit the homeless.
About 140 people attended Summer Soirée, enjoying an evening of live music, food, drinks and exceptional networking.
Proceeds from the event go to Home For Good, an initiative of United Way of Greater Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce that seeks to end chronic and veteran homelessness.

CAA Orange County held its annual gala this month, giving rental property professionals and industry partners an opportunity to mingle, break bread and network — all for a good cause.
More than 450 people attended the gala, held April 14 at the Hilton Orange County. The event raised $25,000 for the local United Way’s Rapid-Rehousing initiative. Rapid Rehousing helps families with children move into affordable housing, minimizing the time they spend in shelters, in cars or on the street.
