The 2015 CAA Nominating Committee, chaired by Ron Granville, CPM, (Woodmont Real Estate Services, Belmont) is pleased to announce the slate of candidates for seats on the 2016 CAA Board of Directors.
We would like to thank CAA members for their participation. Due to the precise requirements detailed in the Bylaws of the Association which indicate a specific number of seats available for each Classification of Membership, the job of the Nominating Committee was particularly challenging.

On the eve of the California Apartment Association’s June board meeting, members of the Legislature’s Moderate Democratic Caucus joined CAA VIPs for dinner.
About 20 of the “Mods” attended the event Wednesday, June 17, at Mulvaney’s in Sacramento. Assemblyman Henry Perea, D-Fresno, recognized the members of the caucus in attendance, and each spoke for a couple minutes.
A highlight of the dinner included Sen. Jerry Hill presenting a Senate resolution to Ron Granville. The resolution recognizes Granville’s leadership as president of the Association in 2014.

A small group of CAA Greater Inland Empire members broke bread with California state Assemblywoman Cheryl Brown and Assemblyman Freddie Rodriguez last week.
The event, Friday, March 13, at the Ontario Double Tree, marked the CAA division’s first Leadership Roundtable of 2015.
The Roundtable came just a few days after CAA’s Legislative Conference, at which members from throughout the state visited with lawmakers at the Capitol.

About 200 property management professionals from throughout California converged on Sacramento on Tuesday, gaining key insights into bills that could affect their businesses.
Brimming with knowledge about the proposals, they then headed to the Capitol to sit down with lawmakers and discuss their concerns.

The California Apartment Association has confirmed that Assembly Republican Leader Kristin Olsen will speak at CAA’s Legislative Conference.
Olsen, who represents the 12th Assembly District in the Central Valley, is the first mother of school-aged children to lead either a Republican or Democratic caucus in the California Legislature, according to her website.
The lawmaker, first elected to the Assembly in 2010, became chief Republican whip in her first term. In 2012, the Regional Council of Rural Counties named her Legislator of the Year.

Besides great barbecue, the menu for CAA’s end-of-the-year membership luncheon in Pleasant Hill this month included a rundown on new laws, tips on saving energy, and philanthropy for local veterans.
It was all served up Thursday, Nov. 13, at Back Forty Texas BBQ.
A small group of CAA Greater Inland Empire members broke bread with four local mayors Friday, Oct. 17, during the association’s third Leadership Roundtable of 2014.
With more than two elected officials taking part this time, organizers changed the format, pairing each member with a mayor during lunch. They got to spend nearly an hour together.
The event took place at the National Community Renaissance’s office in Rancho Cucamonga.
Participating mayors included Paul Leon (Ontario); Carey Davis (San Bernardino); Dennis Michael (Rancho Cucamonga); and Karen Spiegel (Corona).

At the CAA Annual Membership Meeting, President Ron Granville, CPM, announced the results of the 2015 California Apartment Association Board of Directors’ election.
Granville welcomed newly elected and returning directors to the board during the yearly membership meeting Thursday, Oct. 16. Voting for the 2015 CAA Board of Directors closed Oct. 7.
In accordance with the CAA bylaws, directors serve a term of three years; regional directors serve a term of two years. Newly elected directors begin their terms Jan. 1.
