Gov. Jerry Brown will return to a CAA podium next month as the keynote speaker at the California Apartment Association’s annual Legislative Conference.
Brown will address California’s top rental housing officials Tuesday, April 22, at the Sacramento Convention Center.
Shortly after the governor’s morningtime speech, attendees will head to the Capitol to educate lawmakers about the important roles the rental housing industry plays in California.

A multifamily housing expert will provide an economic forecast for Orange County’s rental housing industry next week during a lunchtime workshop hosted by the California Apartment Association.
Jay Parsons, national market analysis manager for MPF Research, will speak Thursday, Feb. 27, during the Orange County Rental Housing Economic Outlook for 2014.
The event, hosted by the California Apartment Association’s South Coast Division, will be held at Radisson Newport Beach, 4545 MacArthur Blvd.,Newport Beach

This year’s first CAA industry partner meeting for the Inland Empire introduced a new format that features a panel discussion and afternoon networking reception with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
The meeting, held at the DoubleTree Ontario on Tuesday, Feb. 18, attracted more than 50 industry partners of the California Apartment Association and garnered rave reviews.
“I really enjoyed the new event format! Much more intimate and it gave us a chance to interact and get to know the speakers better,” one attendee said in a survey. “Thank you!”

More than 140 rental housing professionals heard from Riverside Mayor Rusty Bailey late last month during the California Apartment Association’s inaugural Professional Property Managers Forum.
The event, formally known as Lunch Club, attracted representatives from more than 25 property owners and management companies, as well as industry partners.
During his address, the mayor shared his vision for Riverside, centered on the theme “Together We’re Better.”
Bailey also outlined the city’s accomplishments from the past year, such as the University of California, Riverside, becoming California’s first public medical school in four decades.

CAA-AAGIE and the Upland Fire Department will host a town hall meeting next month to discuss a pilot program allowing landlords to self-inspect their rental units.
Members of AAGIE are encouraged to attend the meeting and to share any questions and concerns. The gathering will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Carnegie Library, 450 N. Euclid Ave.
The 12-month pilot program, which began in November, allows building owners and managers to conduct fire safety inspections on their own. The City Council approved the trial inspection program in October.

Rancho Santa Margarita – More than 200 people gathered at the Tijeras Creek Golf Club this month for the CAA South Coast Maintenance All-Stars contest.
On Thursday, Nov. 14, 88 competitors showed their skills in eight maintenance-related games, as their teams cheered from the sidelines. For the second straight year, Camden won the Team Spirit Award.
