The Rental Housing Association of Sacramento Valley presents its 16th annual educational conference and trade show Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Cal Expo Fairgrounds in Sacramento. More than 1,000 industry professionals will have fun while learning, thanks to the “Game On!” theme incorporated into exhibits and programs. This fall, CAA’s Southern California Rental Housing Expo 2013 will bring 130 vendor booths, tremendous networking opportunities and a slate of high-interest seminars to Pomona. The 10 courses cover all aspects of the rental housing business, from bed bugs to evictions, and will be taught by some of the industry’s best trainers. Each class qualifies students for one hour of CCRM continuing-education credits. The Expo is Oct. 29 at the Pomona Fairplex & Sheraton Conference Center, 601 W. McKinley Ave.

Celebrating with a Speakeasy theme, rental housing professionals gamed an evening away this month at CAA-LA’s  Casino Night. Brook Furniture Rental was the big “Whale Sponsor” for the event, which attracted about 240 people to an indoor/outdoor location at the Stuart Sierra Madre, by BRE Properties. Attendees at the June 13 event mingled and  networked while playing the game tables, taking group pics at the free photo booth and eating tasty hors d’oeuvres. Jason Gomez with Opti-Fit International was the winner of the grand raffle prize, an iPad donated by Tenant Co.

Two local elected leaders will discuss the economic outlook of the region during the California Apartment Association’s inaugural Legislative District Leadership Conference for the Greater Inland Empire. The two officials – one representing San Bernardino County and the other the city of Calimesa – will speak next month at a conference hosted by CAA-Apartment Association Greater Inland Empire, or CAA AAGIE. This month, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office will discuss the eviction process and related matters during a California Apartment Association luncheon. The educational event is from noon to 1:30  p.m., March 20, at TorNino’s Banquets. Besides evictions, Sgt. John Golden of the sheriff’s Civil Department will offer an update about the lockout process, as well as wage garnishments after a judgment.
